A blog about the navies of the Civil War, living history, and much more; basically whatever historical topics cross my mind. And obviously some miscellaneous stuff too!

Up Early Today
I'm up early today, at least for a Saturday. I'm heading to Moore's Creek National Battlefield for the anniversary living history program. In all the years I've lived in eastern NC, I've never actually been to this historic site, so I'm excited not only to participate in the program, but just to see the site for the first time. I have met a couple of park rangers from Moore's Creek on numerous occasions, and am glad to finally see the place.

Be sure to keep you kilt on!
I visited there for the first time a few years ago and as a staffer (rep. the Archives). It was fun and a very nice site. It a shame we don't do more in the way of promos for it...
Don't worry Chris, you won't find me wearing a kilt. Our unit fell in with the Johnston County Militia this weekend (we portray Halifax District Militia). I'm glad to have finally seen the site and want to return as a visitor so I can spend more time looking at their exhibits, both inside and wayside.
